Part I: Being Ancestors and Descendants of Robert Scott, third Laird of Rankilburn (Buccleuch); Part II: Being descendants of John Scott, brother to Robert Scott, third of Rankilburn; Part III: Being descendants of Michael, brother to Richard, who married Alicia de Molla; Part IV: Being sundry families probably allied to families included in Parts I., II., and III., but of which the connecting link has been lost. An appendix, illustrations of family crests, and an index to surnames and places enhance the text.
